Join Historic Harrisburg Association for the
Landmark Walking Tour: Midtown Market District
Historic Harrisburg’s Executive Director David Morrison will lead a walking tour of Midtown and Olde Uptown on Saturday, August 12, with stops at the Broad Street Market and the plazas of the new Federal Courthouse and new State Archives Center. The tour, from 10 AM to 12 Noon, will begin at the Historic Harrisburg Resource Center, 1230 N. Third Street.
The tour group will be greeted in the Broad Street Market courtyard by Market Executive Director Tanis Monroy, who will provide an update on the plans for the Temporary Market as well as the anticipated restoration of the fire-damaged Historic Brick Market. After visiting the plazas of the newly completed Federal Courthouse and State Archives Tower on N. Sixth Street, the tour will explore the Olde Uptown Historic District, where nearly 200 previously dilapidated historic homes have been restored in recent years.
The tour will conclude back at the Broad Street Market, where tourgoers may purchase lunch, groceries, and prepared foods. The cost is $15 for General Admission, $10 for Historic Harrisburg members, and $5 for students. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Broad Street Market fire recovery fund. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Eventbrite or at the start of the tour. Additional information is available at 717.233.4646 or info@historicharrisburg.org.
