Event Type

Invitation only! This legendary tradition is our annual free thank-you event for HHA members at the Pillar and Capital levels.  Each year, the party takes place in a distinctive historic, architectural setting. This year, join us at the historic Stroh Mansion, the home of David and Donna Schankweiler on Thursday, August 5th from 5:30 – 7:30PM for heavy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.

Erected in 1924, the home was built for Harrisburg Attorney Charles C. Stroh, and his wife Villa. The couple commissioned Clayton Lappley to design this stately stone-constructed Georgian Revival-styled North Front Street home.
Lappley, a noted Harrisburg architect, designed several other homes in the 2900 block of North Front, making it one of most iconic and significant of Harrisburg’s Front Street mansions.

After its conversion to law offices, the home was purchased by the Schankweilers and with the aid of contractor Don Farinelli, was restored to much of original floor plan including classic architectural features of trim and moldings blended with a more contemporary layout and expansive eat-in-kitchen. The office walls and partitions were removed, a design-compatible rear addition was built, including a home office, stunning great room and garage, constructed with stone to seamlessly match the main house.

Beautiful landscaping, finishing accents, outdoor patio space, and swimming pool make this historic mansion a perfect place to celebrate Historic Harrisburg Association with our Pillar and Capital members who keep our mission alive!
