“Revisiting City Beautiful: New Initiatives for a New Century”
Come Celebrate Harrisburg, The City Beautiful
Please join us Monday evening, April 27 at the Resource Center, 1230 North Third Street, for a panel presentation and exhibit entitled Revisiting the City Beautiful: “New Initiatives for a New Century.” Artwork, photographic installations and presentations by representatives from Capital Region Water, Harrisburg Parks Foundation and Historic Harrisburg Association trace how Harrisburg’s early 20th century public improvements transformed Pennsylvania’s capital city from a dark, dirty and polluted eyesore into a nationally applauded example of the “City Beautiful” movement, showcase for beautiful public parks, monuments, water and sewer systems and state of the art urban infrastructure.
Building on last year’s success, the new presentation will include an update on 21st-Century initiatives developed to enhance Harrisburg’s public infrastructure, city street intersections, parks, greenways and bikeways.
Refreshments will be served!
This is a free event. Registration is not required but is appreciated.
